Magic Reindeer Food

Every year I make Magic Reindeer Food for my kids and on Christmas Eve we sprinkle it on the lawn for Santa’s Reindeer.  Before the kids wake up my husband goes outside to make sure the deer ate their food and he checks for sleigh tracks. My kids get so excited when they look out the window on Christmas day and the snow is all trampled and the most of the reindeer food is gone.

Recipe: 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1/3 cup glitter

Instructions:  Put treats in a little bag. Sprinkle the glitter on your lawn the night before Santa comes, they will smell the oats and see the glitter and find your house!!!

I also attach one of the following poems to the bag:

Cookies and milk bring Santa good cheer, but did you remember his 8 tiny reindeer?
Sprinkle the treats outside tonight; magic dust makes it sparkle bright. Say a wish and close your eyes for Santa and his reindeer will soon arrive.

The big day is coming, Santa's on his way. His reindeer are busy pulling the sleigh. They are going to be hungry, so give them a treat. Sprinkle this reindeer food on the front lawn for them to eat!
Sprinkle on the lawn at night. The moon will make it sparkle bright. As Santa's reindeer fly and roam. This will guide them to your home

*Remember this treat is for reindeer only.  Don’t let your children eat it.

Have a Very Merry Christmas!

What fun! We make reindeer food, too! Our recipe is one handful of oats, one sprinkle of cinnamon, one pinch of sugar, and one palmful of glitter for each child making the mix. We mix it with our hands and toss it outside as far as it will go. (This Christmas eve was windy, so it went far, far, far!) It's a fun part of our tradition! Thanks for sharing.
