LML's Top 5 Kid Friendly Websites For Summer

Over the summer our children tend to forget most of what they learned in school that year and one of the things I do to help my kids is to let them play educational games. I don't tell them that they're educational they think they're just having fun. I have two boys ages 6 and 7 and we wanted to share with you their favourite websites.

TVO Kids website is loaded with free educational online games for kids and toddlers. It also has activity books and colouring pages you can print off, contests and videos. The website is so loaded you might want to check out the sitemap to help you get a feel for the website and to find what you're looking for. There is also a parent's guide to using TVOKids. The parent's guide is located on the TVO website for parents which is jam-packed with useful articles such as: learning about issues regarding bullying, the homework debate, web safety, the new kindergarten curriculum, studies in education and child development and much more. You can also find out about family-friendly events in your community.  TVO's websites come highly recommended by both parents and kids. http://www.tvokids.com

Star Fall is a fantastic website for children to discover reading. The site it's full of interactive fun, stories, ABC Printouts, and more. To help your children along every word on the site is clickable and will read aloud.  http://starfall.com

Funbrain is an educational website that contains games and activities in a variety of school subjects. The games range from Kindergarten to Grade 8.  Funbrain also has resources for parents and teachers. http://www.funbrain.com

NorthPole: Although this website is a Christmas themed site it contains lots of fun and educational activities for children all year round.  It has crossword puzzles, word searches, flash card, create your own storybooks, loads of printable worksheets for Pre-K to grade three and so much more. It also has fantastic recipes that you can make and enjoy with your kids. http://www.northpole.com

Prongo is an educational website for kids that offers fun, interactive games for kids ages 3 - 12. It also offers a Quiz station for teachers that allow them to create online quizzes for their students. http://www.prongo.com
